The House

Natural Stone walls · Ancient beams · charming character

Les Galineaux is a spacious and rustic house full of character. It is elegantly yet simply decorated with French furniture and modern pieces, and offers a calm atmosphere for fun and relaxation. Natural stone walls, ancient beams, sanded floors and stone flags keep the character and charm of this old farmhouse.

The open plan country kitchen, which gives onto the garden, is at the heart of the house, with a large living space behind it and a ground floor bedroom to the side. The stairs split in two going to either part of the house.

Bedrooms

5 spacious and cool bedrooms · Sleeps 10 comfortably · Perfect for two families

The bedrooms are cleverly laid out with what could be described as two halves. Offering privacy for two families sharing, where each family can have one side of the house, alternatively the children can be put at one end and the adults at the other!
There are 5 bedrooms. One on the ground floor with its own access to the garden via French doors it is a large double room with a sofa and wood burner for the cool autumn evenings.

There are two bedrooms upstairs on one side of the house and a bathroom. One of the bedrooms is on a large landing area which is less private but it offers a four poster kingsize bed and a lovely balcony over looking the garden for morning coffee. It also has the advantage of being close to the twin room for families.

On the other side of the house there are two further bedrooms and another newly installed modern shower room and separate loo. The master bedroom, which is large and spacious with beams, sanded floors and exposed stone walls is on this side of the house. It can be set up with one super king bed or two singles if preferred. This room has its own spiral stair case from the sitting room.

Kitchen

The hub of the home, this stunning country kitchen

The kitchen has been refurbished in a modern style but very much still in keeping with the rustic character of the house.

Here you are in an area of France renowned for its gastronomic delights. As well as the table in the kitchen which seats 4 or 5, there is also a separate dining area off the kitchen.  The large refectory table in solid walnut seats 10 or 12 easily. Well equipped with table cloths, napkins and crockery for a full house, it's a charming setting for Christmas or New Year feasts as well as the everyday meals of a big family… or even good for revising for exams!

Living Room

Comfort and relaxation

The sitting room is cool in the summer heat and warm with the glow of the wood burner in winter. There are comfy sofas, a giant bean bag which fits 2 adults having a cuddle (!) a feature fireplace with Jotul wood burner - great for winter dinners by the fire - and access to the garden. There are books, board games, and cards for you to use and enjoy, but if you can't cope with too much family trivial pursuits there is also a flat screen TV (bring your own HDMi cable) or there are DVDs in the sideboard. And if you really have to work on your holiday a desk and good wifi are available.

Garden & Pool

The shady terrace area is close to the kitchen and offers long hours of convivial al freso dining in the shade of the sunsail. There are benches, sun loungers and a hammock for long lazy afternoons.

The petty country garden is an extension of the house with doors opening from the three downstairs rooms onto this space. Laze around in the hammock, read your book in the shade of the fig tree, splash in the pool, play badminton or sunbathe.
Planted with geranium, lavender, wisteria, herbs, a fig tree, a plum tree and a vine, it is a peaceful and romantic place.

Walled, fenced and a manageable size, the garden is a secure area for playing and relaxing. The great pool in summer months is ideal for fun and a cool down and a sun bathe!  There is also a smaller paddling pool which can be filled for little ones. Badminton, cricket and table tennis are all available.

Splash!

The pool is a fantastic addition to the house and makes it a perfect holiday home. Including a small shallow area for children, the pool is alarmed and fenced off from the rest of the garden for safety.
